This Privacy Policy explains how CatchWord Translate ("the app", "we", "our", or "us") collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the app.

1. Summary
CatchWord Translate lets users:
- translate selected English words and phrases
- check grammar and receive corrected English text
- view pronunciation, definitions, and audio
- scan text from the screen
- save phrases for later review
- sign in with Google
- purchase subscriptions through Google Play
In the current Play Store build, users are asked to sign in with Google before entering the main app interface from the standard launcher flow. After sign-in, account-linked features such as cloud sync and purchase restore are associated with the signed-in account.
2. Information We Collect
A. Account information
If you sign in with Google, we may receive:
- your Google account email address
- your account identifier
- basic profile information provided through Google Sign-In or Firebase Authentication
We use this information to sign you in, restore account-based data, sync saved content, and associate subscriptions or other account-linked features with your account.
B. Text and content you choose to process
The app may process content that you actively choose to translate or analyze, including:
- selected words or phrases from other apps
- sentences or passages submitted for grammar checking
- corrected text generated for copy or replace actions
- text extracted from screenshots when you start a screen text scan
- phrases you save manually
- history of recent lookups stored locally on your device
This content may include personal or sensitive information depending on what you choose to select, correct, or scan. We only process this content to provide the feature you requested.
C. Subscription and transaction data
If you subscribe through Google Play, we may process:
- subscription product ID
- subscription status
- purchase token or a hashed token
- order ID
- subscription expiry and verification status
We use this information to verify purchases, restore entitlements, prevent fraud, and manage premium access.
D. Device and app identifiers
To support security, notifications, and anti-abuse features, we may process:
- Firebase Cloud Messaging token
- App Set ID
- Play Integrity token and related integrity evidence
- app and device signals needed to validate trial activity
E. Usage records
We may record feature usage such as AI lookup, screen text scan usage, grammar usage, or other feature counters to support limits, product operations, abuse prevention, and service improvement.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- provide translation, pronunciation, screen text scanning, grammar checking, corrected text suggestions, and related app features
- authenticate users and manage sessions
- sync saved phrases across signed-in devices
- verify and restore subscriptions
- prevent fraud, abuse, or repeated trial misuse
- send push notifications, if enabled
- maintain app reliability, security, and performance
4. How Information Is Processed and Shared
We do not sell your personal data.
We may use service providers or platform services to operate the app, such as:
- Google Play services
- Google Play Billing
- Firebase Authentication
- Firebase Firestore
- Firebase Cloud Messaging
- Google Play Integrity
- App Set ID services
- dictionary and AI processing services used to return lookup, translation, grammar, or screen text scan results
These providers may process information on our behalf to deliver the app's features.
5. Accessibility, Overlay, and Screen Capture
The app uses Android accessibility, overlay, and screen capture related features to provide its core functionality.
Accessibility Service
The accessibility service is used to detect text that you select in other apps so the app can show a popup with translation and grammar-related tools. The service is not intended to monitor unrelated activity beyond this feature flow.
Overlay
Overlay permission is used so the popup can appear on top of other apps after you request a translation or action.
Screen capture and screen text scan
If you choose to use screen text scanning, the app captures the current screen after you explicitly start that action. Screenshot content is used only to extract text and return the result to you.
6. Data Storage and Retention
We store some data locally on your device, such as:
- cached dictionary results
- recent lookup history
- cached grammar results and corrected text previews
- saved phrases
- app settings
- limited subscription state cache
If you sign in, some account-based data may also be stored in cloud services, such as:
- saved phrases
- user profile information
- subscription entitlement records
- usage counters
- notification token
We keep data for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, prevent abuse, or enforce our terms.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information. However, no method of storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Your Choices
You may choose to:
- not sign in, although some features will be unavailable
- decline notifications
- decline accessibility, overlay, or screen capture related permissions
- remove saved phrases
- stop using the app at any time

9. Children's Privacy
The app is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International Data Processing
Your information may be processed on servers located outside your country, depending on the services used to operate the app.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date.
